Parco dei Lagoni di Mercurago

The Lagoni di Mercurago near Arona are shallow glacial lakes with Bronze Age pile-dwelling remains (UNESCO World Heritage 2011). The site is one of the best-preserved prehistoric lake settlements in northern Italy. Grey herons, great crested grebes and purple herons breed in the extensive reedbeds. The park is family-friendly and connects to the Lago Maggiore cycle path.
