Gallipoli Cognato — Piccole Dolomiti Walk

The Parco Regionale Gallipoli Cognato-Piccole Dolomiti Lucane near Accettura protects bizarre sandstone and conglomerate towers (the 'Dolomiti Lucane' section) above a vast mixed oak forest. The Middle Spotted Woodpecker has its only southern Italian colony here. The wolf pack of the Piccole Dolomiti is one of the best-known in Basilicata. The oak forest has one of the largest porcupine populations in Italy.
