Parco delle Lame del Sesia

The "lame" are abandoned meanders of the Sesia, now still lagoons fringed by willow and alder near Albano Vercellese. Flat paths and a boardwalk lead to hides overlooking a mixed colony of grey herons, night herons and little egrets — hundreds of nests in the riverside poplars.
