Parco della Caffarella (184 hectares) in the Appio-Latino neighbourhood is the largest area of Roman countryside (campagna romana) within the city — grazed by sheep, with the Almone stream, an intact nymphaeum (grotto of the Egeria, 2nd century AD) where Numa Pompilius met the nymph Egeria, and a view of the aqueducts.
