Parco Regionale dell'Olivo & Monte Santa Croce, Venafro

Molise

Venafro's olive oil was praised by Horace and Cato; the regional park protects a "living museum" of monumental olive trees on stone terraces below Monte Santa Croce. Paths climb through them to the summit's medieval chapel and a WWF aviary reserve for birds of prey, with a view over the Volturno plain.
