Parco del Ticino — Bosco di Vigevano

Lombardy

The Parco Lombardo della Valle del Ticino (91,000 ha) is the largest river park in Europe — the Ticino river between Lago Maggiore and the Po runs through an intact floodplain forest. White stork colonised the forest in 2000 and now has 80+ nesting pairs. The old black poplar trees along the river are 150+ years old. Kingfisher, little egret and grey heron fish the gravel beds.
