Parco del Matese — Lago e Versante Campano

The Campania side of Lago del Matese (the approach from Piedimonte Matese) offers a different perspective from the Molise shore. Old lakeside fishing huts, beech forest down to the water's edge and the 2,050 m Monte Miletto reflected in the surface. Otters were confirmed here in 2018 — a major conservation success for the southern Apennines. The Campania approach passes through chestnut groves.
