The Valli di Comacchio are a brackish lagoon system — 13,500 ha of salt lagoons famous for their wild eel (anguilla) and traditional eel fishing (vallicata). Greater flamingo (6,000+) breed in the salt pans — the largest inland flamingo colony in Europe. Avocet, black-winged stilt and glossy ibis breed. The Po Delta Park is UNESCO-listed. Dogs on leash on the dyke circuits.
