The Parco del Cornacchione near Bobbio in the Trebbia valley protects serpentinite (ultramafic rock) outcrops — the magnesium-rich soil supports a unique flora adapted to serpentine stress: pink Dianthus, Alyssum and endemic Silene species. The Trebbia river (Hemingway's favourite) is visible below. Honey buzzard in summer. Peregrine on the serpentinite crags. Dogs off-leash.
