The mouth of the Esino river near Falconara is one of central Italy's most important raptor migration stopover sites. In spring and autumn, tens of thousands of raptors cross the Adriatic and congregate here. Short-toed eagles, marsh harriers and ospreys are among the species visible from the flat dyke path.
