Aspromonte — Gambarie Forest Walk

Gambarie d'Aspromonte (1,310 m) is a beech and silver fir forest resort above Reggio Calabria in the Aspromonte National Park. The forest walk from the village passes old beech trees and viewpoints over the Strait of Messina to Sicily. Wolves are frequently sighted near the forest margins at dusk. The park has an endemic Aspromonte subspecies of the European wild cat. From the ridge, Sicily's Etna is visible.
