Montagna Grande (836 m) is the main volcanic dome of Pantelleria — an island 70 km from Tunisia. The summit walk passes through natural steam vents (stufe) used as natural saunas since Roman antiquity. The slopes have Zibibbo (Muscat of Alexandria) vine terraces; the volcanic raisins are used for Passito di Pantelleria DOC wine.
