Otranto & Salento Coast Walk

Puglia

Otranto was the site of an Ottoman massacre in 1480 — 800 townspeople were beheaded for refusing to convert; their skulls are displayed in the cathedral. The coastal walk south of Otranto passes limestone sea stacks, blue grottoes and the Porto Badisco cave where Aeneas allegedly landed from Troy. Albania is 80 km across the Adriatic.
