Lago delle Fate, Val Divedro

Piedmont

Lago delle Fate (2,058 m) in Val Divedro above Crevoladossola is a beautiful glacial lake below the Simplon pass. The turquoise colour comes from glacial melt. The Simplon railway tunnel (the world's longest when built in 1906) runs below. Marmots are extremely abundant above 1,800 m. The lake is a destination from the Ossola valley making it busy in August but quiet otherwise.
