Orrido di Bellano

Since 1898 wooden and later metal catwalks have let visitors descend into this vertiginous cleft carved by the Pioverna torrent just above Bellano's lakefront. The walkways cling to walls barely a few metres apart while the water crashes through potholes and a small waterfall below. It's a compact but genuinely dramatic detour from the Lake Como shoreline promenade.
