The Oasi LIPU di Torrile near Parma is a small but exceptional wetland reserve — 55 ha of Po plain reedbed and open water. Bittern breeds (3–4 pairs, very rare in Emilia), little bittern and water rail heard but rarely seen. Penduline tit builds its hanging nest here in May. The hides give close views. The reserve is 10 km from Parma cathedral and largely unknown.
