Noto — Cattedrale e Barocco

Unlike towns that rebuilt in place after the 1693 earthquake, Noto was relocated entirely and rebuilt from scratch on a new site with a deliberately unified Baroque plan, its honey-coloured local stone giving the whole historic centre a striking golden glow, especially at sunset. Flat streets and broad stone steps make for easy walking.
