Necropoli della Banditaccia, Cerveteri

Lazio

The Banditaccia holds thousands of Etruscan tombs from the 9th–3rd centuries BC, the grandest built as grass-topped drums with carved interiors imitating houses, arranged along a genuine street grid. Umbrella pines and cypress shade the "urban" layout; it is a UNESCO site with Tarquinia.
