Naviglio della Martesana

Lombardy

Dug in the 15th century to bring Adda water to Milan, the Martesana canal is now bordered by a level, mostly car-free path running from the city out through Gorgonzola, Cassano d'Adda and Vaprio to the river. Baroque villas, the odd Leonardo association and shady plane trees line the way.
