Marche

The Pian Grande di Castelluccio (1,270 m) in the Monti Sibillini National Park is a flat glacial plateau famous for the Fiorita — the spectacular bloom of poppies, lentil flowers and cornflowers in May–June that covers the entire plain in colour. The event draws thousands but the plain is vast. Wolf and golden eagle are present. The town of Castelluccio above was badly damaged in the 2016 earthquake.
