Monti Picentini — Faggio Monumentale
Campania
The Foresta di Acerno within the Monti Picentini regional park is part of the UNESCO Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe listing — one of only two sites in Campania. The forest has trees exceeding 500 years; the canopy in autumn turns gold and amber over weeks. Red deer were reintroduced in 2010 and are now easily seen at dusk.
