Parco dei Nebrodi — Lago Biviere

Sicily

Lago Biviere di Cesarò sits at 1,278 m inside the Nebrodi National Park — the only significant natural lake in inland Sicily. The beech forest surrounding it is the southernmost Atlantic-type beech forest in the world. Golden eagle nest in the park (over 30 pairs), Roe deer were reintroduced in 2000 and now number over 1,500. The lake in autumn has common crane migration stopovers — rare in Sicily.
