Lago di Fondi near Terracina is a brackish coastal lagoon separated from the Tyrrhenian by a narrow dune barrier — the first WWF reserve in Italy (established 1967). Greater flamingo, glossy ibis and spoonbill use the lake. Loggerhead turtle occasionally enters from the sea. The lake is surrounded by citrus groves producing the famous 'Clementine di Fondi'. Dogs on leash on the reserve path.
