Monte Venda
Veneto
These conical hills near Padua are the eroded remains of volcanic activity from tens of millions of years ago, now covered in chestnut and Mediterranean scrub quite different from the surrounding Po plain. The summit path passes the abandoned Olivetan abbey of Monte Venda before reaching a viewpoint that stretches from the Dolomites to the Adriatic on clear days.
