Monte Velino, Sirente-Velino

Abruzzo

Monte Velino (2,487 m) is the highest point of the Sirente-Velino regional park and the second-highest non-Gran Sasso peak in the central Apennines. The summit plateau is home to Abruzzo chamois (reintroduced) and the area has an active wolf pack. The approach from Ovindoli is a long but non-technical route on a marked path.
