Molise
Monte Totila (1,951 m) in the Mainarde area of Molise borders the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo — the park's large mammals (Marsican bear, wolf, Apennine chamois) regularly cross into Molise here. The Mainarde ridge is one of the least-visited mountain areas in central Italy. The summit view encompasses Castel di Sangro, the Sangro valley and the distant Adriatic.
