Monte Summano (1,297 m) above Santorso in the Prealpi Vicentine is the sacred mountain of the Veneto — the summit sanctuary preserves the site of a pre-Roman cult of the thunder god (Summanus). The view from the top on clear days reaches Venice and the Adriatic. The forest approach is through old-growth hornbeam-oak. Honey buzzard in summer. Peregrine on the south face. Dogs off-leash.
