Monte Soro, Nebrodi

Monte Soro is the highest point of the Nebrodi mountains, the long chain of forested hills running along Sicily's northern spine. The summit is reached through what may be the largest beech forest in Sicily. The semi-wild Nebrodi black pig (suino nero dei Nebrodi) roams the forest floor; the Nebrodi park also has golden eagle and Bonelli's eagle.
