Monte Sirino — Lago Laudemio
Basilicata
Monte Sirino (2,005 m) is the highest peak in Basilicata outside the Pollino. Lago Laudemio (1,810 m) just below the summit is a small glacial lake in a cirque. The old beech forest on the ascent from Lagonegro is one of the finest in Lucania — trees up to 300 years old. Wolf is resident and frequently tracked in the snow in winter. The summit view extends to Sicily and Calabria.
