Monte Sirente (2,349 m) in the Parco Regionale Sirente-Velino has a meteorite impact crater on its summit plateau — the Sirente crater (diameter 140 m) is believed to date from 290 AD and is the only confirmed meteorite crater in Italy. Chamois herds on the plateau. Italian wolf pack. The plateau has a snowfield that persists until June. Dogs off-leash on the open plateau.
