Monte Sibilla, Monti Sibillini

Monte Sibilla (2,173 m) gives the Monti Sibillini National Park its name. Medieval legend held that a Sibyl (prophetess) lived in a cave below the summit — Arthurian knights including Huon de Bordeaux sought her here. The summit gives a panorama from the Adriatic to Gran Sasso. The Forca di Presta approach crosses the Pian Grande of Castelluccio. Chamois and golden eagle are regular.
