Monte Sant'Elia

Calabria

This limestone ridge rises abruptly above Palmi, giving the trail its reputation as the best vantage point over the Costa Viola, the violet-tinged coastline stretching toward Scilla and the Strait of Messina. Aromatic Mediterranean scrub of broom and cistus covers the slopes, flowering vividly in late spring. On clear days, both the Aeolian Islands and the Sicilian coast are visible across the water.
