Monte Rosa — Morena di Indren, Alagna

Piedmont

The high valley above Alagna Valsesia gives access to the eastern moraine of the Monte Rosa glacier system. The Walser villages (Alagna, Riva Valdobbia) were settled by Germanic-speaking Walser people from Valais in the 13th century — a living medieval German-dialect culture. The Indren cable car reaches 3,260 m; the moraine walk below has lakes and glacier views. Monte Rosa's Dufourspitze (4,634 m) is the second-highest peak in the Alps.
