Alagna Valsesia is the Walser village at the foot of Monte Rosa's Italian face. The Funivia di Alagna cable car reaches Punta Indren (3,260 m) — used primarily by ski mountaineers — passing the extraordinary close-up of the Monte Rosa glaciers. A walk from the midstation to the Rifugio Gnifetti at 3,647 m is the highest-altitude walk in the Piedmont.
