From Sanico or the Passo di Spino a path climbs beech wood and open pasture to the sharp summit ridge of the Pizzocolo, whose silhouette from Garda resembles a face lying back. The Rifugio Pirlo sits just below; the summit gives a plunging view over the whole lake to the Baldo and Adamello.
