Monte Peglia, Alto Orvietano
Umbria
Monte Peglia (838 m) north of Orvieto is a UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve and the most anonymous mountain in Umbria — it has no tourist infrastructure whatsoever. The forest is old-growth turkey oak, hornbeam and hop hornbeam. Wolves arrived in 2012 and have been confirmed resident since. Red and fallow deer are extremely abundant. The summit gives views over Lago di Corbara and the Tiber valley.
