Monte Pecoraro, Serre Calabresi

Monte Pecoraro (1,423 m) in the Serre Calabresi massif above Mongiana is the main summit of this forgotten mountain range south of the Sila. The Mongiana Real Fabbrica (Royal Bourbon Ironworks, 1770) below produced cannons for the Bourbon fleet. The old-growth Calabrian black pine forest above 1,100 m is excellent. Wolf pack territory. The summit gives views from the Ionian to the Tyrrhenian.
