Monte Pasubio, Vallarsa

Trentino-Alto Adige

Monte Pasubio (2,239 m) above the Vallarsa valley was one of the most bitterly fought battlefields of WWI — Italian and Austrian troops fought for the summit for three years. The 'Strada delle 52 gallerie' (road of 52 tunnels) was cut through the mountain by Italian troops in 1917 for supply — accessible today as a hiking route. The ossuary contains 5,000 soldiers. Views to the Dolomites and the Venetian plain. Dogs off-leash.
