Monte Orfano ("the orphan") is an isolated conglomerate hill sticking out of the flat Franciacorta. Tracks climb through holm-oak and vineyard to the 15th-century Convento dell'Annunciata, whose terrace looks over the sparkling-wine estates to Lake Iseo and, on clear days, the Alps.
