Furlo Gorge & Monte Nerone

The Gola del Furlo is a narrow limestone canyon where the Metauro river cuts through the Apennines. The Via Flaminia (220 BC) passes through the canyon in a Roman tunnel still used today. Peregrine falcons nest on the gorge walls; above, Monte Nerone (1,526 m) has extensive beech forest and views to the Adriatic.
