Monte Musinè, Caselette

Piedmont

Monte Musinè rises abruptly from the plain just west of Turin, a heat-trap of broom, rock and Mediterranean scrub topped by a 1901 iron cross. Steep paths climb from Caselette or Almese; the summit gives a sweeping view of the city, the Alps and — so the local stories go — passing UFOs.
