Monte Mars (2,600 m) on the Biellese-Valsesia border is the highest summit in the area. The approach from Piancone valley crosses old-growth larch forest. Chamois were reintroduced in 2019 and are establishing. The summit view encompassed Monte Rosa (7 km), the Valsesia below and the Po plain extending to the horizon. Edelweiss grows on the summit ridge limestone outcrops.
