Monte Labro, Grosseto
Tuscany
Monte Labro (1,193 m) in the Amiata-Labro massif south of Piancastagnaio is a trachyte dome with an extraordinary history — the anarchist David Lazzaretti founded a messianic commune here in 1872 and was shot by carbinieri in 1878. The ruins of his 'Jerusalem' remain on the summit. Italian wolf territory. Wildcat. The panorama extends to the islands. Dogs off-leash.
