Monte Labbro, Alta Maremma

Monte Labbro (1,193 m) above Arcidosso in the Alta Maremma is famous for the ruins of the community of David Lazzaretti — a 19th-century messianic prophet who established a theocratic community on the summit before being shot by gendarmerie in 1878. The ruins of his sanctuary still stand. The summit panorama extends from Corsica to Elba to the Umbrian Apennines. Wolf is resident in the area.
