Monte La Gallinola (2,050 m) is the highest point of the Matese massif — a limestone ridge on the Molise-Campania border with Apennine chamois (reintroduced 2010) and wolf. The summit view takes in everything from the Gran Sasso to Calabria on clear days. The approach from Campitello Matese (ski area) goes through beech forest then limestone karst.
