Monte Grignone (2,410 m) above Mandello del Lario is the highest of the Grigne (Grigna Settentrionale) — dramatic limestone towers above Lake Como rising 2,000 m from the water. The summit gives a panorama from the Alps to the Po plain. Peregrine colony on the east face. Alpine chough at the summit. The rocky scramble to the top (Sentiero dei Fabbricatori) requires hands. Dogs on leash on the rocky section.
