Monte Grappa — Sacro Ossario
Veneto
Monte Grappa (1,775 m) was the pivot of the Italian front in WWI (1917–1918) — the mountain stopped the Austrian advance after Caporetto. The summit holds an ossuary with 22,910 fallen soldiers (Italian and Austro-Hungarian). The ascent from Romano d'Ezzelino crosses WWI trenches and tunnels still visible. The 360° panorama extends from Venice to the Dolomites to the Asiago plateau.
