Monte Gennargentu — Punta La Marmora

Punta La Marmora (1,834 m) is the highest point of Sardinia and the Gennargentu National Park. The plateau-like summit gives views across the entire island. The Sardinian mouflon (the original mouflon — Sardinia is its native homeland) is common at 1,400 m+. Golden eagle nests on the rocky outcrops. The park has the Sardinian deer subspecies (cervo sardo) — different enough from mainland deer to warrant separate subspecies.
