Monte Faito (1,131 m) in the Monti Lattari above Castellammare di Stabia is reached by cable car from the station. The summit plateau is an old beech and chestnut forest — extraordinary for the proximity to Naples (30 km). Peregrine and common kestrel on the limestone ridges. The view takes in Vesuvius, the entire Bay of Naples and the Amalfi Coast simultaneously. Dogs off-leash on the forest trails.
