Monte Epomeo is the extinct volcanic dome at the centre of Ischia island. The summit tuff rock has been carved over centuries — a tiny hermitage church and two cave rooms sit immediately below the summit cross at 789 m. The view encompasses the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius, Capri, Procida and the Campanian coast.
